Where to find other players
We are still playing NOLF! We are still around. Especially the |eGo| Clan, the last surviving clan of NOLF. We are playing almost every week on a Sunday evening Europe / afternoon America. Legal Limbo
Since you cannot buy NOLF anymore since (approx) 2005, you can only download it. Other official sources, like Good Old Games, tried to put it as a payable download but failed. The manufacturers of the game have been bought by other companies, and those ones merged with others and have been bought again. Night Dive Studios tried to bring out NOLF 3 but failed because the companies that exist today don't know who owns what about NOLF. So it is in the hands of the community to keep NOLF alive...


New Update of NOLF - v1.006
HeyJake, a NOLF player, invested a lot of time in fixing various bugs and issues with NOLF. He made sure that NOLF can be played again under Windows 10 & Windows 11 with modern 64-Bit Systems on high resolution screens. The game has also an in-game server list, so you can join the game just like in old times. The current version of NOLF is with the community update v1.006.

Download
There are three download possibilities. I personally would recommend the first one.

  1) Download NOLF1 with v1.006 Update included (direct installer).
This version is identical to http://nolfrevival.tk and the easiest way to install & play NOLF right out of the box including the no-CD version. After unzipping you have an .exe file, this .exe file installs the full game. It is possible that Windows smart screen might complain, hit the button "see more information" and then you press "Run Anyway", the installation wizard will pop up.


  2) Download original NOLF1 NOLFGOTY v1.004 English ISO CD's.
These are the original CD's, so you get an ISO file which you have to mount as a virtual CD in your Windows. After you extracted the ZIP file you do a right click on the first CD and hit "Mount". If you don´t have that option you can use another program for that, I use the programm "WinCDEmu". For later convenience you still need to use and Download No-CD Crack. Extract that file and put into your NOLF main folder and replace those files there. You also need to Download v.1.006 to play online. Download that file, extract it, and put its content in your NOLF main folder. See below how to load it into your game.


  3) Download original NOLF1 NOLFGOTY v1.004 GERMAN ISO CD's
These are the original CD's as they were released, so you get an ISO file which you have to mount as a virtual CD in your windows. After you extracted the ZIP file you do a right click on the first CD and hit "Mount". If you don´t have that option you can use another program for that, I use the programm "WinCDEmu". For later convenience you still need to use and Download No-CD Crack. Extract that file and put into your NOLF main folder and replace those files there, there is a german translation of the community update v1.006. You need the update in order to play with other players online. Download v1.006 German language on the website of spawnsite.net

NOLF player Spawn put all the maps into one big map pack. This map pack includes all the Ego maps, too!

Start NOLF permanently as administrator & How to install the maps & Load new Update v1.006 (Modernizer)
If you installed NOLF from the original CD's, you need to download v.1.006 first, unless you used the download with the included v1.006.

1) NOLF needs to run in most cases with administrator privileges in order to function as it should.
After the installation of NOLF you need to open the main folder of NOLF. Find the nolf.exe and the lithtech.exe and do a right click and click on properties. See like in the screenshot below. Make a tick for "Disable fullscreen optimizations" and "Run this program as an administrator", next hit the button with "Change high DPI settings", make a tick at "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by Application" and hit OK twice.


You need to add the map pack to play all multiplayer maps. In your NOLF main folder you create the subfolder "custom". You put the .rez file (map pack and/or nolf-modernizer v1.006) into that custom folder. You start the nolf.exe and proceed as shown in the screenshot below.




Known Issues & Problems
You might encounter some issues that are not described here. Like for example: How to see underwater? On some computer with integrated graphic cards it stays black, this was fixed with 1.006.
